Not Your Average Bake Sale…
What happens when you get 40+ food bloggers together and have a bake sale? A whole lotta magical goodness, that’s what! Last Saturday I had the incredible honor to participate with other food bloggers in San Diego to raise money for Share Our Strength. One in five children in the United States struggle with hunger and this wonderful organization creates initiatives to ensure that children have adequate access to nutrition in school and at home. Food bloggers in cities all over the country banded together to support this worthy cause.
We were fortunate that Great News! Cookware & Cooking School in Pacific Beach was gracious enough to host us this year. They were truly wonderful. Plus, if you like to shop for cookware as much as I do, this is the place for you!
This bake sale was not your average bake sale. No store bought chocolate chip cookies or dry cupcakes here! These amazing cooks and bakers designed delectable treats sure to tantalize the most discerning tastebuds. If you made it out this year, then I know you were not disappointed. If you couldn’t make it, make sure to keep your ears open for the next one. Many of us had so much fun, we are looking to host bake sales for other admirable causes.
So how much did we raise? All together we pulled in $3,000!!! Big thanks go out to all the amazing bloggers who baked for this event, Great News for hosting us and, of course, all the beautiful people who came out and purchased our goodies!
I made three different items for this bake sale: Chipotle pumpkin seed brittle (seen above), praline macaroons and carrot cake brownies. And, of all the nights to happen to me, my oven broke the night before the bake sale! Thank goodness for dear friends who were kind enough to let me take over their kitchen for the night!
If you are looking for the recipe for something of mine you purchased, first of all, thank you! Second, recipes to come soon so be sure to sign up to receive my posts so you don’t miss out on these and other great recipes!

Hi Barbara! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your nice comment. Your bake sale looks fantastic and congratulations on your wonderful contribution to SOS. Your photos show the care that went into every item. See you at Camp Blogaway! Lynne xo
Thanks Lynne! Sitting next to you right now at camp! It’s a pleasure to meet you 🙂
Hi Barbara. Thanks for the mention 🙂 I purchased a carrot cake brownie after I overheard you telling someone that it has less sugar than regular carrot cake. My sugar intake is really limited so I was excited to hear that! I look forward to seeing the recipe!
Thanks Sue! Recipe will be up soon 🙂

It was great to meet you too! We’d love to have you here in Sunny Southern California!
All of these treats look fantastic (and so pretty)! Calories don’t count when they’re for a good cause right? 🙂
Haha, I do believe that we can treat ourselves in moderation and when you have tapas it’s easy to feel like you’re able to eat everything without going overboard!
